Genetic testing to help predict what medications might be suited to your unique biology is relatively new, but increasingly being adopted by a number of medical specialties including Psychiatry. The test will analyse genes that have been shown in research to be predictive of drug response outcomes for a full range of medications. It will also give us information about how your liver will process the medications. These factors combined can be used to guide medication choice. I mainly recommend this test for those with “treatment resistant” depression or mood disturbance who have tried medication without success.
