Adults
As a psychiatrist I am best placed to assess difficulties with concentration, attention and activity levels. This is because many mental health conditions can cause the same symptoms (i.e. anxiety or low mood leading to poor focus) and I often find (particularly in adults) that whilst ADHD is an appropriate diagnosis, there may also be another co existing issue with mental health that needs to be carefully considered in the treatment plan. Therefore rather than ‘just’ assessing for ADHD which can lead to an incomplete understanding of your experience, I will be providing tailored assessment , focussing on the problems most relevant to you (i.e. work, or relationship struggles) and finding ways forward.
I can offer Qb check (computerised measurements) for those for whom it would add to diagnostic certainty. I will also discuss and start medication if appropriate in this appointment.

Children
One of the best parts of my job is seeing children start to thrive following appropriate ADHD diagnosis and treatment. I offer assessment that is inline with the NHS requirements. I will always collect information from school, but understand that often parents and schools can have differing opinions and concerns. I always take time to understand why any differences have arisen and focus addressing the problems, keeping the child’s wellbeing as the priority. As part of ADHD assessment for children, I offer as complementary half hour call with the school, either to gather relevant information or to discuss the findings and support needs for your child. We will carefully consider treatment options together taking into account your child’s academic , social and mental health needs.
